The Hematology/Oncology Division provides state-of-the-art care to children with blood disorders and cancer. The division serves all of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and patients in South Riverside County.
Through collaborations with the UCSD Moores Cancer Center, which has achieved the National Cancer Institute designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Division of Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology is also devoted to basic and translational cancer research, experimental therapeutics and medical education.

In July 2007, a new alliance was formed between St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, and UCSD. The alliance focuses on the development of clinical, translational, and basic research in the area of childhood cancer. Several joint clinical trials have begun, and collaborations regarding other research efforts are underway.
All faculty are actively involved in teaching through the UCSD/RCHSD Pediatric Residency Program and the UCSD School of Medicine. The Division has a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program accredited by the ACGME.
