Kawasaki Disease Program
The Kawasaki Disease Clinic provides comprehensive services for infants and
children with Acute and Convalescent Kawasaki Disease. The clinic is directed
by Dr. Jane Burns,
M.D. Kawasaki Disease is an illness characterized by inflammation of blood
vessels throughout the body. It is most often accompanied by the following
symptoms: fever; rash; swelling of the hands and feet; irritation and reddening
of the eyes; irritation and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth,
lips, and throat; and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Kawasaki Disease affects
children almost exclusively and most patients are under 6 years of age.
Hours of Operation: Kawasaki Clinics are held each Wednesday in
the Cardiology Clinic. A Kawasaki Team Physician is available 24 hours a day for
physician-to-physician consultations for suspected Acute Cases.
