The Division is the only comprehensive tertiary care provider of cardiovascular services in the region (San Diego, Imperial, and South Orange Counties), and it receives referrals from Naval Medical Center, San Diego, as well as the San Diego Regional Kaiser Medical Center. The Division’s clinical volumes for the academic year 2007-2008 were approximately 8,500 outpatient visits including almost 1,000 patients seen in satellite offices; 660 cardiac catheterizations performed, more than half of which were interventional catheterizations; and there were 30 electrophysiological procedures. The echocardiography laboratory performed over 8,700 studies.
