Research:  Eric recently completed the 2-year CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) fellowship
in CDC's Meningitis & Special Pathogens Branch.  Eric's areas of research with CDC included Neisseria meningitidis, leptospirosis, brucellosis, anthrax and pertussis.  As part of his infectious disease fellowship training at UCSD, Eric will travel to SE Asia and Papua New Guinea to work in primary HIV  care as a Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS fellow.

Research:  Walter's research is focused on the pathogenesis/mechanism of Plasmodium sporozoite invasion of the vertebrate host and on the biology and development of the mosquito stages of Plasmodium species, specifically as each relates to novel drug and vaccine development.  He is also interested in methods to improve health care delivery in the developing world.
